Davender Tiago was born in Surabaya on June 5, 1997, to a Javanese-Chinese family. Growing up, he wasn’t exactly the model student. In fact, he was known for being playful, a little mischievous, and more interested in having fun than focusing on school. His grades reflected that average at best, sometimes even below. Most of his time was spent just enjoying life and doing whatever caught his interest in the moment.

After finishing school, his father decided it was time for a change. He sent Davender to New York City to study business, hoping that living far from home would push him to become more independent and responsible. At first, not much seemed different, he still loved hanging out and exploring the city with his friends. But something slowly shifted. Surrounded by a new environment and opportunities, Davender began to discover a sense of purpose. He started taking his studies more seriously, not because he had to, but because he finally found something he genuinely cared about.

During his time in New York, he also discovered his love for food and the vibrant café culture in the city. Eating became more than just a hobby, it sparked ideas. By the time he graduated, he already had a clear vision of what he wanted to build.

Not long after, Davender opened his first coffee shop in New York, partnering with a Korean friend to bring fresh, creative twists to both coffee and food. Their concept stood out, blending flavors and ideas in a way that quickly gained attention. The business grew steadily, and with that success, Davender decided to take the next step.

He opened a second branch back in Surabaya, not just as an expansion, but as a statement. It was his way of proving to his parents, and to himself, that he had grown into someone capable, driven, and ready to carve his own path.
